Training and Professional Development
The organisations and publications below provide support to artists and/or teachers in literacy and numeracy-related skills in particular, as well as on arts education more generally.
Four Regional Arts and Education Networks have been established across Wales to support arts education and organise a programme of high quality professional development for teachers, artists, arts and cultural organisations:
Case studies of artists and teachers focuses on how to embed creativity within school; what an artist brings to a school; working across departments, linking to the curriculum and successful planning and negotiation
Signature Pedagogies (School of Education, Nottingham University)
Based on research which looked at the distinct practice of artists working in schools, this provides some answers to the question: What can we learn about teaching and learning from artists?

Best practice strategies for teaching and learning in the creative arts (primary) – a video with teachers from six schools sharing their practice
This teachers’ resource focuses on arts education and partnerships between artists/arts organisations. Written for London Schools but of wider use. Includes sections on:
Policy to Partnership
A publication that suggests ways in which schools can develop and deliver an arts policy, and establish partnerships to meet their own needs.
Princes Foundation for the Children and the Arts
A series of highly practical arts education teaching resources for Primary schools and Key Stage addressing a wide range of art forms - poetry, storytelling, visual art, dance, theatre and music. Developing literacy and numeracy through the Arts
Many of the arts/cultural organisations listed in the Artform Specific Resources and Links section (link) will be keen to respond to specific requests from schools and teachers regarding CPD training. Many will also be able to develop bespoke schools projects linked to literacy and numeracy.
